Rotary plater improves antibiotic sensitivity
testing
細菌培養皿旋轉板可改善抗生素敏感測試
Using a rotary plater for inoculating agar plates in the CityU VDL
microbiology laboratory applies an even distribution of microorganisms
across the agar, minimising contamination and improving colony isolation.
This is particularly useful for antibiotic sensitivity testing. The video
below shows the rotary plater in action.
在CityU VDL的微生物學實驗室使用细菌培養皿旋轉板去接種瓊脂平板，能夠把微生物均勻地分佈在瓊脂上，並減少污染並改善菌落分離。

Sectioning bone using a bandsaw
使用帶鋸切割骨骼
Having an electric bandsaw in the post mortem room at CityU VDL allows
the pathologists to collect ideal samples from bone of limbs or digits with
intraosseous lesions, allowing accurate diagnosis. The bone can be sectioned
thinly then placed in decalification fluid for softening prior to trimming
and histopathological analysis. The video below shows a section of bone
being cut from the humerus of a dog with a bone tumour.
CityU VDL的驗屍室配備了電動帶鋸，可讓病理學家從動物四肢的骨頭內帶有病變组識中收集合適的樣本，從而進行準確的診斷。
